How do you write a wa.me link?
Country code + full phone number. No symbols, spaces or brackets. Add a preset message and the text is automatically URL-encoded.
https://wa.me/…?text=Hola- Mexico: +52 followed by 10 digits. Do not include the old 1 after the country code or the domestic 044 and 045 prefixes.
- Argentina: WhatsApp instructs you to add 9 after +54 and omit the long-distance 0 and the 15 used in domestic mobile formats.
- Other countries: rules vary. Do not remove every zero: in Italy, for example, the initial zero in some numbers is part of the international number.

How do I create a free WhatsApp link?
Choose the country, enter the full phone number including its area code, and optionally write a message. Your link is created automatically. Copy it or select Open chat. No account or payment is required.
Do I need to save the contact?
No. A wa.me link opens a conversation directly with that number without adding it to your contacts. The recipient must have an active WhatsApp account.
Do you store the numbers or messages I enter?
We do not send numbers or messages to our servers. Links and QR codes are generated in your browser. We only remember your selected country in this browser’s local storage. We do not use analytics or tracking cookies. When you open a link, the data it contains is shared with WhatsApp and its policies apply.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. Click-to-chat links work for numbers registered with either WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business. This tool does not need access to your account.
Is the message sent automatically?
No. The link fills in the message field. The person opening the chat can edit it and must press Send. They can also choose to send something different.
Can I include emojis, accents and line breaks?
Yes. The generator URL-encodes your message to preserve emojis, accents, line breaks and symbols such as & or ?. You can review the message before sending it.
Why does WhatsApp say the number is not on WhatsApp?
Check the country and area code, and confirm that the recipient has an active account. We validate the phone number format, not its registration with WhatsApp or its owner’s identity. A valid format does not guarantee that the chat is available.
Does the link or QR code expire?
The generator does not add an expiration date. The link and QR code point directly to WhatsApp and remain useful as long as the number keeps its account and WhatsApp supports the format. These are not shortened links managed by us. In Pro, a dynamic QR does use a short link on this site: the print stays the same and the destination can be edited while the plan is active.
Does it work on iPhone, Android and desktop?
Yes. Opening the link may offer the mobile app, desktop app or WhatsApp Web depending on the device and its settings. On a computer you may need to sign in.
Can I use the link on Instagram, my website or a QR code?
Yes. Copy it to your bio, email signature or a button on your website. You can also download the QR code as PNG or SVG for printed materials. The number is visible in the link: only share numbers you have permission to publish.
Can I create a group invitation link?
Not with this generator. A wa.me link starts an individual chat. Group invitation links are created in the group settings in WhatsApp and require the appropriate permissions.
What is the difference between wa.me and api.whatsapp.com/send?
Both are WhatsApp entry points for starting conversations. This generator uses wa.me because it is short and easy to share. It does not require an API key or automate messages.

The basic generator runs on your device: we do not store the numbers or messages from that tool. Only your chosen country is remembered in this browser; you can clear it in the site settings. If you create a Pro account, we store the account, one business, its dynamic QR codes, the web catalog (products and logo) and scans (date, approximate country and device type, without an IP address or the full browser) for 13 months. A menu photo is read on your device and is not uploaded. You can delete a QR and its scans from the dashboard. Sharing a link shares the number and message it contains. WhatsApp receives that data when someone opens it.
